Adding Paper-Like Elements to Layouts

Hi everyone!  It’s Kat, one of the Scrapaneer Peers. Some of you may know me from a few digi sites – and now I’m thrilled to be here, too, to share some thoughts on the Keeping It Real class by Tiffany Tillman.

So, here’s the deal: I have more than 10 years of digital scrapping under my belt, but I’m always looking to learn new techniques (I’m a bit geeky like that, I’ll admit). I looked at the class information for Keeping It Real and thought to myself, “Paper tearing, curling …”, those would be pretty cool to add to my pages. I’m a big fan of making my pages as realistic as possible.  I continue to improve my shadowing skills, but adding those more paper-like elements would just take things to the next level. Bonuses aside (like watching Tiffany work through her own layout, the downloadable PDF files to refer to whenever I wanted them, or the kit from Creashens), the class was free by signing up for the Scrapaneers newsletter.  Pretty much a no-brainer – I signed up and jumped in!

Inspired by Amanda Taylor’s The Art of Journaling Workshop with Erin

Good morning! Erin Taylor here with a fun layout inspired by Amanda Taylor’s The Art of Journaling class. I definitely consider myself a “clean and simple” scrapbooker. I like clean lines and white space, so the idea of creating curved journaling lines initially gave me hives! But after spending the evening playing around with the pen tool + Photoshop, I was much more comfortable with the tool, and the idea of creating some wavy journaling lines.

Inspired by Amanda Taylor’s The Art of Journaling Workshop with Lisa

I had no idea when I signed up for The Art of Journaling that Amanda was going to be such an awesome instructor. I was so happy with the clarity of the instructions in the video lessons and her soothing voice with that little touch of Southern charm was a little bonus for me. (I’m originally from the South and have been living in Arizona for about twenty years, so that is one of the things I really miss.)

A Message from the Founder

Three years ago, nearing the end of my divorce, I turned to digital scrapbooking and poured my emotions onto my digital canvas. It was cathartic; my cleansing process through the most turbulent part of my life. I also looked around for classes specific to my art that might shine introspection on my cloudy skies. Found none. And thus, though I knew it not, the seed for Scrapaneers was planted.
