Digital Template Tricks

Welcome to a special Wednesday edition of the Winter Magic giveaway!  I’m dropping in today with two fabulous template downloads for you and some tips on how to alter and combine digital templates to make them more versatile.  Ready for some template magic?  Then come on in and join me . . .

Templates are an amazing tool for digital design and scrapbooking.  They are wonderful time-savers to use “as-is,” but there are also many creative ways to use Templates.  The two Designers who contributed today’s Winter Magic downloads – Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs and Jimbo Jambo Designs – gave us some wonderful templates to play with.  Here is a little sneak peek at what you can download below:

These templates are fabulous if you use them straight out of the box – but you can also customize them in ways that might better fit your design needs.  Here are some examples of creative ways to customize your templates:

1.  Shrink the elements on a template to present a totally different look.  Su used this technique on Jimbo Jambo’s template:

2.  Rotate the template (sometimes referred to as “twisting” in the digital community) so that it appears at a different angle, or “flip” it either horizontally or vertically.  Here is a layout by Amie that rotates one of Fiddle-Dee-Dee’s templates so that the design appears vertical as opposed to horizontal:

3.  Rearrange the elements on a template to suit your needs.  Kathy used this technique on one of Fiddle-Dee-Dee’s templates here:

4.  Combine two (or more) different templates together to make an entirely new design.  In this layout by Courtney, she combined the template by Jimbo Jambo Designs with one of Fiddle-Dee-Dee’s templates:

Of course, these templates also look fabulous right out of the box.  Here are some samples made by the Scrapaneers team members with the Winter Magic Collection:

I am in love with templates because they eliminate so many steps for me which enables me to scrap more often. (Physically limited). Love the resized elements and those awesome stars. I scrap letter size, so the vertical orientation will work much better for me. Again, the downloads are super duper. Wonderfful tut. 🙂
