Digital Art Dolls with Cilenia Curtis

projects / retiring

Remember Paper Doll Cut Outs? We would trim them out, fold their tabs, dress them up and play with them for hours as kids! And though someone else had designed them, we loved them just the same!

Now we can create our own paper dolls using all of the digital mixed media tools available to us! If you’ve ever wanted to create your own gorgeous, colorful (no-tabbed) dolls to dress up and use, then this is the class for you. Even if you’re a mixed media hobbyist, or a digital scrapbooker who enjoys adding unique pieces to your layouts, or a digital designer who wants to learn how to create adorable girls for your Personal Use kits, then this class is for you too!

Digital artist Cilenia Curtis will show you, step by step, how to create different types of Art Dolls ranging from paper-looking dolls to the artsy/wispy girls using your photos as a guide. You’ll then learn how to dress up your Dolls with the class kit and create an art journaling page all at your own pace!

In Digital Art Dolls you’ll finally add your own personal touches, find your creative muse and rediscover how much fun it is to play with Art Dolls — digitally!

Frequent Questions

Q. Do I have to know how to draw?

A. You do not need to know how to draw. Cilenia will teach you how to use your program’s tools to look like you can! You will also use basic shapes found in the photo-editor as well as images found on the web to use as a guide for drawing.

Q. I am a digital designer or run a commercial business. Can I use the templates we create and techniques I learn to create my own art dolls to sell?

A. Yes! Everyone’s artistry is different and your style and uniqueness is yours to do as you please. You will learn many techniques that can be applied to a design business and sold as commercial artwork too.

Q. I use Photoshop Elements. Can I take this class? What happens if I decide to upgrade to Photoshop one day?

A. Yes you can! While the class recordings were created using Adobe Photoshop CC, the techniques Cilenia shares work for both Photoshop CS4 and above or Photoshop Elements 10 and above.

You’ll also receive lifetime access to all videos.

Q. Do I need a pen tablet to take this class?

A. A Wacom Pen Tablet & Pen is recommended but not required. You’ll get better results from your artwork if you use such hardware. We recommend a Wacom Bamboo Pen, a solid starter pen and tablet set. But you don’t need one to enjoy this class.

Q. Will this class make sense to me if I a beginner?

A. Eh, this is not the kind of class you’ll want to jump in if you’ve never used a photo-editor before. And if you’re new to digital scrapbooking, we recommend Sans Paper Scissors for Beginners, our self-paced workshop.

If you’ve created your first digital project or completed a digital scrapbook page and feel comfortable with the Move tool, the Brush tool, can locate other tools in the Tools Panel, plus know your way around the layer’s panel, then you’re ready to enroll.
