DigiScrap School: Guide to Blending

What separates digital scrapbookers from their paper-crafting peers? Blending — the technical art of combining separate images to create a completely new reality! Blended layouts are often complimented as inspiring, expressive and jaw-dropping because of their abstract and unique qualities. We simply do not “build” blended pages; they are born! And now, Tiffany Tillman will share how you can breathe creative life into blended pages too in the Digital Scrapbooker’s Guide to Blending, series I of the DigiScrap School.

Module LessonsWhat You’ll Learn

Module 1: Blend Mode Power
If blend modes have ever “stumped” you in the past, they will no more! We’ll focus first on the information you need to make stronger and better technical choices. Like why blend modes are so important and how opacity signals certain blend modes to perform better. You’ll learn methods for taking, choosing and pairing your photos with the right blend mode that matches your vision for the entire design. Handy cheat sheets accompany this module so you can refer back as you complete upcoming projects.

Module 2: You Make It Look So Easy
Discover quick and simple methods for blending photos into oversized page backgrounds via three page projects highlighting masking, inversions, and gradients. Watch Tiffany extend the techniques to paper and textures — you’ll receive bonus textures and patterns to follow along. You’ll also learn methods for adding dimensional objects over the blend-work to increase the tension within the design.

Module 3: Take No Prisoners!
A blend class would not be complete without extensive training in extractions and compositing — the process of combining different images to create an entirely new reality. Look over Tiffany’s shoulder as she creates two separate page layouts using her best extraction secrets and pairs them with blending techniques that transform regular photos into complete works of art.

Bonus No. 1: Expert Video Interviews

Attend one-hour, live-interview video sessions with hand-picked digital scrapbooking experts. They’ll stop by and share their unique techniques, deconstructed layouts, and thoughts about digital scrapbook blending.

Interview no. 1: Amanda Taylor
Scrapaneer Instructor and founder of TaylorMade Designs, Amanda Taylor shares her tips for transforming photos into well-blended, emotional masterpieces.

Bonus No. 2: Q & A Video Lessons
Some questions posted in the class forum or submitted via email will REQUIRE a video answer, which will be added to the classroom on an ongoing basis. This is the perfect time to take charge of your learning and ask questions you’ve stumbled upon in modules 1 – 3.

Frequent Questions

Q. I previously enrolled into a smaller version of Guide to Blending taught by Tiffany at another website. How can I enroll into this new, extended version?

A. We want you to have complete access to this newly updated and extended version too and we’ve prepared a special discount just for you. Contact us at Student Support and we’ll send you the details on how to take advantage of the savings offer.

Q: Do I need Photoshop Elements or Photoshop to take the class?

A: Short answer: both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements users are welcome!

Long answer: Guide to Blending training is conducted primarily in Photoshop CS6. However, almost all techniques taught will be the same for both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. When necessary, Photoshop Elements demonstrations have been provided to accomplish specific techniques that are done differently between the two versions of Photoshop.
