DigiScrap School: Guide to Shadowing and Dimensional Effectsadept / digiscrapschool / sale / techniques
Shadowing — the trademark of a digital scrapbooker’s style. It’s your calling card that’s as unique as the shadowing angles, blend modes, and embellishments you choose! The best shadowed layouts enforce dimension and help a design look realistic like traditional paper scrapbook pages. And in our complimentary Keeping it Real workshop, you learned stand-out digital steps for tearing, pinching, curling, and folding like a professional!
Module 1: Shadowing Primer
We’ll focus first on shadowing basics like how to shadow the regular objects including flowers, metals, stitches and different papers. You’ll explore how to tweak shadowing blend modes and when and why you should. And we’ll discuss how to adjust your shadows based on Tiffany’s Comparison Model. You’ll also receive Tiffany’s custom drop shadows as layer style sets so you can work quickly through upcoming projects.
Module 2: The Next Dimension
First you’ll discover the shadowing tools and lighting effects that match the design of specific page patterns. Then watch Tiffany demonstrate how to offset shadows, pop shadows partially and fully from embellishments and create peek-a-boo effects. You’ll also learn two super secret tools you MUST use for building ultimate shadows — you’ll wonder why you never used them before!
Module 3: Out of This World!
What shadowing class would be complete without full access to shadowing designer tricks of the trade! You’ll learn how to create dimensional post it notes, pressed tape, pocket tucks (from the obvious to the unusual shaped items), paper fly outs, and pinned titles. The final shadowing technique will show you how to build surreal shadows based on perspective.
